Health Centre
There is a Health Centre on site for the use of students (and staff). This is staffed by qualified health professionals.
They are part of the team whose aim is to provide a healthy and safe environment for the students and to promote a healthy lifestyle within the college.
The Health Centre also provides access for students to other providers both on and off site. Health providers who visit the college include a physiotherapist (for ACC treatments), specialist nurses for chronic conditions and District Nursing Services.
Health Centre staff undergo continuous professional development through workshops, study days and postgraduate studies.
The nurses will also provide first aid and emergency care when necessary and can lodge ACC claims in case further health care services are required.
In the event of a student becoming unwell whilst in school, the health staff can initially assess the student and contact parents or caregivers and/or refer to other services as required.
