Zonta Club hosts Sophie Elliott Fundraiser

Posted on August 16, 2018

The Macleans College Zonta Club hosted their Sophie Elliott fundraiser last Thursday 9 August.

The aim of the Sophie Elliott Trust is to help prevent violence by raising awareness of young people and their families and friends to the dangers of unsafe, violent and abusive relationships.

The proceeds from this fundraiser, consisting of a sausage sizzle and a bake sale that raised approximately $300, will go to the Women’s Refuge charity which assists women and children undergoing domestic abuse by helping them escape dangerous households and providing urgent safe accommodation. They also offer a crisis line and provide education programmes.

The group also distributed Zonta ribbons in order to raise awareness of this cause at Macleans College.

The Z Club aims to make a difference within and outside the school environment.

Many thanks to Ms Viegas and all the students who supported this fundraiser
