Yuna Otani named Senior Solo Champion for 2019

The Senior Solo Showcase was held on Tuesday 21 May in the Colin Prentice Auditorium.
The Showcase was part of the final stage of the annual Macleans College Senior Solo Competition. Nine performers were selected from video auditions as this year’s finalists. They offered a broad range of musical styles and traditions. They were:
- Marcia Los of Batten House (Voice)
- Reuben Chung of Mansfield (Guitar)
- David Li of Snell (Piano)
- Nancy Chen of Rutherford (Flute)
- Veda Xue of Rutherford (Viola)
- Lorna Zhang of Mansfield (Violin)
- Alex Jin of Mansfield (Saxophone)
- Yuna Otani of Batten (Flute)
- Jimmy Zhou of Batten (Saxophone)
The performances were adjudicated by Yih-hsin Huang who was impressed by the standard and preparation of the students. Impressing the most was Yuna Otani (Flute), who presented a technically stunning rendition of Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D.
The Junior Solo Competition will take place in Term 4 with entries due by the end of Term 3.
