Year 9 Enterprise Students hold a Market Day
Posted on December 04, 2018
On Tuesday 27 November the Year 9 Enterprise class set up their food market in the amphitheatre at lunchtime.
After spending several weeks working on business plans, designing products, procuring the inputs and then attempting to add value to their products, the students were ready to make a first attempt at entrepreneurship and hopefully make a profit.
Although all the seniors were absent for the event, the market was well patronised by students and staff. Some stalls were an immediate hit and sold out their wares quickly. Others like the Bubble Tea and Hot Pot took a while to get going but finally had crowds around them.
Most of the teams made a narrow profit from their activity while a few made losses which came out of their own pocket. All the teams gained useful experience in team work and learnt something about what it takes to market a product.
