Year 13 Police Studies students attend workshop

The Year 13 Police Studies class recently attended a workshop held at the Bentley Pavilion.
Held in conjunction with SADD (Students Against Dangerous Driving) the workshop was attended by Auckland Transport and Police Units, including several front-line Officers, and checkpoint booze buses.
In his introduction, Inspector Richard Wilkie explained the role of the Police in keeping our roads safe, and urged participants to find strategies to engage with and educate young drivers.
Students participated in a range of activities including, navigating a Focus or Fail obstacle course using booze goggles, a breath testing procedure and presenting their understanding of a SADD principle.
Ormiston Senior College and Tamaki College students, involved in the Police Pathway Programme, also took part in the all-day workshop.
