Year 11 Music Students spend an evening in the Spiegeltent

Posted on March 27, 2019

Senior music students spent the first few weeks of Term One studying different eras of western music from Baroque through to the Twentieth century.

Thanks to the generous funding from the Macleans College extension team, the Year 11 music students were able to spend an evening in the Spiegeltent in Aotea Square watching a mesmerising performance of a piece of music studied in the Western Music unit: Terry Ryland’s minimalist piece In C.

Percussionists from the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Australian National Academy of Music exposed the students to an amazing  surround sound experience, merging an array of percussion sounds with the use of music technologies.

The students expressed their gratitude and enjoyment at being able to see a real life rendition of a piece of music studied in class. Thanks to Mrs McDougall who accompanied Miss Pridham on this trip.
