Year 11 Geographers visit Rangitoto Island
Posted on May 07, 2019
On Wednesday 1 May Mrs Jackson and Mr Mackenzie led a group of Year 11 Geographers on a field trip to Rangitoto Island.
Rangitoto is a volcanic island located in the Hauraki Gulf which is a distinctive landmark of the Auckland landscape.
The students aim was to analyse the surroundings, and see which areas of Auckland's CBD would be vulnerable to an eruption or tsunami. While on the island the group walked to the summit and did a precis sketch.
The trip helped the students understand how a natural disaster could happen. The day was a great success.
