A group of Year 10 students recently took the trip of a lifetime on the Spirt of Adventure, sailing from Whangarei to Auckland.
George Fisher (Batten House), Tayla Gordon (Batten), Zoe Henderson (Mansfield), Joshua Hughes (Mansfield), Logan Marshall (Batten), Thomas Muggleston (Te Kanawa), Anneliese Parsons (Mansfield), Madi Sexton (Kupe), Oli Williams (Kupe) and Kayla Winiata (Rutherford) departed on 25 August and returned to Auckland on 30 August after sailing around the Hauraki Gulf.
After a number of challenges and a crisp 6.30 am swim each morning, the team took out the interschool trophy, testing their body and minds and making many new friends over the five days of the trip.
Launched in 1986 the Spirit of Adventure Trust is a not-for-profit organisation empowering young New Zealanders to reach their full potential through the challenge of the sea. The Trust has hosted more than 75,000 young people on board.
