Year 10 Māori Students Attend Ō Wawata Workshop
Posted on November 14, 2017
On Thursday 2 November a group of Year 10 Māori students travelled to Nga Kete Wananga Marae in Otara to participate in the Ō Wawata / Dreams & Aspirations workshop facilitated by ‘Kei a Tatou te Ihi’ (KATTI).
The programme encourages Māori secondary school students to be inspired to dream; be reaffirmed, validated and ‘recharged’ about being Māori; know that obstacles can be overcome with a plan in place; have fun and know that the keys to a dream career path are all of the above.
Students worked on planning future pathways and undertook physical activities that represent different career paths. Ultimately, the primary objective of the Year 10 programme is to motivate Māori students to think now about their career options.
