Year 10 Music and Business Collaborative Event
Posted on September 01, 2017
On August 21 the professional music group NZ Trio visited Macleans College and ran a two-hour careers workshop for fifty Year 10 students.
The students from music and business classes were treated to a world-class performance by the trio, including both classical and contemporary NZ works. The business managers of the trio then took the students through the many facets of arts administration, including the varied exciting career opportunities within the industry.
In groups, the students came up with their own business ideas, based on their collective passions and interests. The ideas ranged from a music and sport collaborative camp to a music themed restaurant and even a music arena in space for the uber-wealthy!
The event succeeded in challenging all of the students to think outside the box about the career opportunities in both arts and business.
