Posted on September 16, 2016

On Wednesday 14 September, three Year 10 French students participated in the annual French Speech Competition at Sancta Maria College.

Students had to prepare a two to three minute speech on a topic related to young people in France or New Zealand. Macleans had a very successful day in the face of some strong competition.

Jessica Gu (Upham House) was awarded a Highly Commended in the Year 10 Division of the competition and Amy Skidmore (Rutherford) was awarded first place, with an excellent speech about how young people have become increasingly lazy due to the rise of technology.

Grace Baylis (Upham) was judged as performing above Year 10 expectations and placed second in the Open Division of the competition. Her speech was about how fortunate young people in New Zealand are compared to other places in the world.
