World Scholar’s Cup in Melbourne

Twelve Macleans College students travelled to Melbourne to compete in the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round held between 16 – 21 August.
The teams joined 1,600 pupils from 27 countries competing at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The students were challenged in four rounds comprising of debating, creative writing, multi-choice and a Scholar’s Bowl event.
Darsh Chaudhari (11LALB), Sanjit Ramesh Chandran (11SMIH) and Eliot Lew (11SMIH) placed 7th overall, and were 2nd of the Oceania teams. Ranudi Lelwala (11SMIH), Janet Yu (11SMIH) and Jasmine Zhang (11SMIH) were 20th overall.
Other competitors were Annika Lee (10BLAS), Vivian Chen (10BLAS), Ellen Wang (10BLAS), Nancy Qiang (10FISU), Maggie Chen (10BLAS), and Archi Tulsian (12POWU).
All four teams qualified for the final Tournament of Champions to be held in November 2018 at Yale University in the USA.
