The Girl Empowerment Conference was held at Macleans College on Saturday 16 September.
This was a conference ran by youth for youth. Its mission was to provide advice, motivation and the skills to help propel the growth of female entrepreneurs.
The participants were involved in a business competition that required them to present a social enterprise to reduce the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis. Many inspirational and creative ideas were generated during the process. Teams presented to a panel of Macleans College Alumni and business women from the community. The top three teams were provided cash prizes provided by Barfoot and Thompson and MyTuition.
The two guest speakers, Amanda Singleton from Vodafone and Cecilia Tse from Auckland Council, shared their empowering journey in business.
