During the recent school holidays, two major orienteering championship events took place in Auckland - the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships and the North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships.

Eleven Macleans College students competed in the 2022 New Zealand Secondary School Orienteering Championship together with over 200 participants from other New Zealand Secondary Schools.
