Visit to FRENZ
Posted on April 04, 2018
On Tuesday March 27th Level 2 Economics students visited the packing shed and one of the farms supplying eggs to FRENZ (Free Range Eggs New Zealand Company).
For many it was their first time on a farm with its accompanying sights and smells. The fieldtrip provided students with a ‘real life’ example of a business operating in the primary sector. There were opportunities to discuss how government and external forces influence business decisions. For instance with the value of the dollar the company no longer sells in the US market.
They are now all aware of what the term ‘free range’ farming actually means which may influence their future spending behaviour.
The students appreciated the time the FRENZ staff generously gave them and the specially stamped “Macleans” eggs to take home.
