Upham House Sells ANZAC Poppies

“We are very appreciative of what you do for the Howick Returned Services Association,” the vice president Colin Smith said yesterday.

He was speaking to 35 senior students from Upham House at Macleans College who volunteered to sell poppies in East Auckland as part of the ANZAC memorial commemoration.

Money raised goes toward assisting people associated with the RSA with welfare matters.

The Howick RSA will hold a Dawn Service followed by a main service on Stockade Hill on Monday 25 April and three Macleans College students will act as flag bearers for the second year.

Students from Upham House have sold poppies for a number of years and along with a large annual monetary gift and a welfare programme the relationship between the college and the association has become very strong.

Upham House, named after the World War Two double Victoria Cross recipient Charles Upham, held its ANZAC Service yesterday with representatives from the RSA attending.

The students who sold poppies were Emira Ali, Poorna Bandara, Tamanna Bhatia, Georgia Bond, Zoe Brown, Lucy Campbell, Kenji Caseria, Bronte Croad, Fariha Fatima, Alex Fenn, Lesila Fifita, Simonay Freeman, Judah Gilbert Solomon Solomon, Isaac Harraway, Ash Hogan, Samuel Jansson-Bush, Sasha Khurana, Samuel Lau, Brandan Laurenzi, Dylan Laurenzi, Vincent Lei, Jackie Low, Rachel Marlin, Keegan Marsh, Rohaan Mistry, Tarran O’Shaughnessy, Elena Pihera, Stanley Samay, Katie Savill, Ivana Sequeira, Allan Shi, Rebecca Tao, Sarah Tong, Ernest Wong, and Aislinn Yu.
