Upham House ANZAC Service Assembly 2022

Upham House recently held their annual ANZAC Service Assembly.
In attendance was Chair of the Howick RSA Mr Leo Abbott, Howick Local Board Chairperson Ms Adele White who is a returned member and RSA patron, the Head Prefects and several members of Senior Management. The assembly had the privilege of listening to Mike Cole, President of the Howick RSA, speak on the importance of the veterans.
During the assembly Upham House students acknowledged the courage and bravery of New Zealand's service members of the past including Charles Upham, whom the whanau house is named after due to his bravery on the battlefield as well as being a representation of the Macleans College values. Charles Upham is one of only three people to have ever received two Victoria Crosses for his service. This year the young returned service people of the past but also the present were commemorated. The assembly also reflected on the struggles and sacrifices that young veterans have made to ensure safety and peace in Aotearoa New Zealand today.
Upham House also presented the Howick RSA with a $2,500 donation from the efforts of the students selling poppies.
