Update 21 April
Posted on April 21, 2020
Dear parents and caregivers,
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday I am writing to update you on the school’s operations over the next few weeks.
The country will move into Alert Level 3 on 28 April. That means Year 9 and 10 students who cannot remain at home may come to school from Wednesday 29 April.
The key message from the Prime Minister is that if you can, you should keep your child at home. If you require the school to supervise your child, you will need to tell us in advance. Please read the information below and if you will be sending your child to school for supervision, CLICK ON THIS LINK TO REGISTER. Ensure you complete the form no later than this Friday, 24 April.
Level 3 School Operations
- Learning will be done online by all students.
- The only students who will be at school are Year 9 and 10 students whose parents require someone to supervise their children.
- Parents will need to register using the link above, if their child is coming to school, so that the school can plan ahead and manage students adequately.
- Students who are at school for supervision will continue with their online learning. There will be no teaching at school. Students will need to bring their device and headphones.
- The school canteen will not be open. Students must bring their own lunch and water bottle.
- Students will be kept in groups or ‘bubbles’.
- Students will stay in their allocated group all day in the classroom and during any breaks. There will be no contact across groups.
- Parents are asked to keep any sick children at home. If a sick child comes to school, they will be sent home.
- The number of students at the school will dictate how many ‘bubbles’ will be required.
- Social distancing will be maintained – indoors 1m distance, outdoors 2m.
- There will be no ball games or any activities that could allow transfer of the virus.
Further instructions about where and when students are to meet will be sent to those Year 9 and 10 students who register.
This week
All students will have begun their online learning for Term Two. It is important that they do their best to follow the timetable and complete all work set on their Google Classroom.
I will be in touch as further information is provided by the Ministry of Education.
Nga mihi,
Steven Hargreaves
