Posted on February 17, 2021
School will be open for regular classes on Thursday 18 February.
Please read the letter below for further details.
Kia ora parents and caregivers.
Congratulations to all of the students, families and staff for the quick and seamless way we moved into remote lessons this week. It was impressive.
Thank you for once again supporting the learning of your sons and daughters through remote lessons. Moving in and out of remote learning may be a situation we have to cope with as we make our way through the year.
As per the Prime Minister’s announcement this afternoon, school will be open from Thursday morning for regular classes.
We will welcome the students into their form classes at 8.30 am. The students will receive a briefing regarding hygiene measures, learning and assessment and advice on where to seek support should they need it.
Here are some further details about school operations under Level 2:
Hygiene practices
- Any students and staff must stay at home if they are sick, and we will send anyone home immediately if they show any flu-like symptoms
- Students will have hand sanitiser available in all houses and classroom blocks
- Masks must be worn on buses. Wearing a mask is not compulsory in school.
Physical distancing guidelines for schools
- Schools are exempt from mass gathering rules.
Sharing equipment
- School equipment used by students will be sanitised regularly.
Food
- The tuck shop and vending machines are open
- Drinking fountains are closed so students must bring a drink bottle. It may be refilled from the tap in the Commons.
Learning programme
Given the relatively short period of time out of class the normal teaching and learning programme will resume. If you have concerns about the progress or learning of your child please contact the subject teacher in the first instance.
Student support
The counsellors in the Guidance Department are available to support students. Students can make a booking in the SAS or via the school website. House Leaders are also available for more general advice relating to all aspects of school life.
Extracurricular Activities
Practices and trainings will resume as normal. Inter-school activities require further guidance from College Sport.
Swimming and Athletics Sports Days
These events are currently on hold. More information will follow.
Year 9 Camp
Camps are scheduled to go ahead in Level 2. All camps have detailed health and safety plans in place.
We look forward to seeing all of our students on Thursday.
Kind regards
