Up and Coming Maestro secures a new position with the APO

Former Macleans College student Ray Chan has been appointed to the newly created role of Conducting Fellow, assisting Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Giordano Bellincampi.

He has recently completed his Masters Degree at the Royal Academy of Music, London where he gained Distinction. While in London Ray formed his own orchestra called Goodensemble which has performed over 50 concerts in the city.

Ray attended Macleans College from 2004 – 2008 and was the Te Kanawa House Captain in 2008. He won top cultural prizes while at Macleans College as well as representing it in swimming and water polo.

He graduated from the prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore in 2012. His past experience has included collaboration with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and working with celebrated maestros in Vienna, Austria and at the Parnu Music Festival in Estonia.
