Two Win at Eastern Regional

Macleans College nearly took a clean sweep of the Eastern Schools’ Regional Speech Competition for 2016 this week as Year 9 Rachael Ouyang (Te Kanawa House) and Year 10 Akshi Rana (Mansfield) took home the gold.
Speaking with passion, precision and power, the two talented speakers gained the top place on the podium over five other schools’ speakers. “Really polished performances from both of them,” said Speaking Coach Mr Green. “It bodes well for the future of the programme.”
Contestants must prepare and deliver a speech between three minutes and five in length. “Yishan Jin of Year 11 (Kupe House) also spoke with tremendous flair.”
The competition is held annually between seven East Auckland schools and was organised this year by Sancta Maria College, with Saint Kentigern College absent from the night.
