Tournament Week 2024: 1st XI Boys Hockey

The Macleans College 1st XI Boys Hockey team experienced a challenging Tournament Week, playing against strong opponents from Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty to ultimately finish in 20th place.
Despite being a young squad, the team deserves commendation for remaining competitive in every game they played. They showed great character and skill development was observed among the team members.
The games against Rosmini College, St Peter’s College Auckland and Northcote College were particularly hard-fought, with the Macleans College team narrowly missing victory despite creating several promising opportunities.
Coach Mr Nevay and team manager Mr Thackwray praised the team’s growth and the mature level of hockey they exhibited.
With only two Year 13 students in this year’s tournament team, the future looks bright as the team builds towards the 2025 season.
