The Macleans College Mountain Bike Club was crowned Top Boys’ Team and Top Overall School in the Auckland Secondary Schools’ Mountain Bike Championship for the third year running.

The AKSS MTB Championship is a four race series with races this year being held at Riverhead on 22 May, Maraetai Forest on 19 June, Hunua on 14 August and Slater Road on 11 September.

Points for the top six riders over the four races are then tallied to determine team placings. The team comprised of Daniel Holt-Pedersen (13BSU), Liam Talbot (12LAB), George Furniss (11HMB), Matthew Wilson (10HAK), Harrison Williams (10LMK), Lachlan Fasher (10HHM) and Elijah Paul (11NOR).

In the individual categories at this championship George Furniss was winner of the Intermediate Boys’ category, having won all four races in the series. Daniel Holt-Pedersen was 2nd in the Senior Boys and Matthew Wilson was second in the Intermediate Boys.

These results capped another successful year for the team, which included George Furniss winning the Nduro series in Rotorua and Daniel Holt-Pedersen placing 5th in the Oceania Mountain Bike Continental Championships in Queenstown on 24 March.
