Top five at New Zealand Secondary Schools Case Competition 2022
Posted on August 02, 2022
Wei Tian Teo (Rutherford House), Shafquat Tabeeb (Mansfield) and Mushfiqur Khan (Mansfield) recently represented Macleans College at the national finals of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Case Competition.
Run by the University of Auckland Case Club, the competition consisted of a preliminary round, with over 80 teams (including several Macleans College teams) from a range of schools across New Zealand sending in submissions to be considered for the final round.
The preliminary round required teams to send in a fully written analysis of issues, creative strategies, and the implementation and financial consequences of said strategies on the global megacorporation, Apple. From the initial 80, the top five teams overall were selected for an in-person national final round at the University of Auckland.
Team Stonk Market (Wei Tian, Shafquat and Mushfiqur) were amongst the top five teams in New Zealand selected, and on Friday 29 July, they competed against teams from schools as far as from Christchurch.
The final round involved a five-hour, no-wifi case crack of Lululemon’s corporate stagnation. Teams were put under immense time pressure - needing to prepare a cohesive analysis and presentation, as well as creative strategic proposals - within the span of a few hours. This event was then followed by networking across a range of industry professionals.
Thank you to Mrs Ladkoo and Mrs Guthrie for helping to organise the logistics of this event.
