The University of Auckland songwriter’s workshop

A group of Macleans College Year 11 to 13 students recently participated in a songwriter's workshop held by The University of Auckland.
The Macleans College students were firstly tasked with discovering the university students who were majoring in the composition course. They took the opportunity to ask questions and inquire about the university course. This was really valuable because there are a number of Macleans College students who are interested in carrying on with music through to university level.
The university students then performed their original song compositions. After each song, they provided insights into the thought processes behind their work.
Later on in the workshop, four Macleans College students showcased their own compositions and received feedback from the university students. Despite feeling nervous and vulnerable while performing their original compositions, the feedback was very encouraging and helped the students to understand how to go about developing our music.
