The Dangerous Boys’ Art Competition
Posted on June 07, 2017
The annual Boys’ Art competition was held recently in the Macleans College Art Department.
Once again this was a very popular event with a huge turnout to support the exhibiting artists. There were long queues at lunchtime and after school to see the work.
The work presented was of an excellent standard and showcased a wide range of media and techniques.
The winning entry, sponsored by Fresh Choice, was won by Claudio Cotto (Batten House). This was a digital artwork entitled “Shatter” which was inspired by watching many slow motion videos. Claudio intends to use his prizemoney towards saving for a 3D printer.
The second prize and People’s Choice award was won by Raymund Santos (Te Kanawa) with two coloured pencil works and the third prize was won by Billy Cox (Kupe) for a photographic submission.
The Art Department was grateful for the support of Deputy Principal Andrew Mackenzie who was the MC for the event.
