Half Moon Bay Rotary Technology Scholarships

These scholarships are intended to encourage students to enter a trade or technology and to recognise the value of apprenticeships and cadetships.  The Macleans values have been displayed by both these students and they have proven skills and abilities in their chosen area.

The recipients for 2020 are Ollie Hughson of Snell House and James Venter of Rutherford House.

Prime Ministers Vocational Excellence Award

This award is intended to raise awareness of vocational education and celebrate the commitment and achievement of a vocational student in their chosen pathway.   This award comes with a monetary prize of $2,000.

The recipient is Aisea Tonga of Te Kanawa House.

Otago University Scholarships

Otago University Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships are selected based on a balance of academic achievement and leadership, which might be demonstrated either through school, sporting or cultural activities, and/or community involvement. This Scholarship has a value of $6,000 for one year.

The recipient is Caitlin Harley of Upham House.

Otago University Māori Entrance Scholarship

Established by the University of Otago in 2005 to celebrate academic excellence and cultural diversity, this scholarship is intended to encourage the progression of Māori into tertiary study and is valued at $10,000 for one year.

The recipient is Lexi Woods of Upham House.

Otago University Academic Excellence Scholarship

The University of Otago Academic Excellence Scholarships are worth up to $35,000 over three years, and are primarily selected on the basis of outstanding previous academic performance, however leadership qualities and community involvement are also considered.

The recipients are: Jamie Wu of Hillary House, Joy Yang of Hillary House and Ariel Liew of Mansfield House.

Otago University Vice Chancellors Scholarship (International)

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for International Students (New Zealand) recognise the additional challenges currently faced by international students in New Zealand.  These scholarships support international students to remain in the country and commence study on campus at Otago in 2021.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students (New Zealand) includes:

NZD$10,000 contribution towards the tuition fee on an eligible programme.

Guaranteed place in University-owned accommodation

The recipients are: Angel Lai of Upham House, Christine Su of Kupe House and Ansh Aggarwal of Te Kanawa House.

University of Canterbury Scholarship

Go Waitaha Canterbury Scholarship

This Scholarship is for academic achievement and potential to benefit from the development opportunities offered.   Valued at $5,000 towards accommodation costs, in conjunction with personal and professional development workshops, and outdoor recreation activities.

UC Hiranga Scholarship

This scholarship is for academic excellence.  Valued at $5,000.

The recipient of both of these scholarships is: Ryan Nowacki of Mansfield House.

Waikato University Scholarship

Ko Te Tangata School Leaver Scholarship

The Ko Te Tangata School Leaver Scholarship named ‘for the people’, recognises the University’s strong connection and commitment to the schools and communities within Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Scholarship is awarded primarily on the basis of evidence of academic readiness and strong community spirit. Scholarships awarded are between $3,000 and $5,000 towards study.

The recipient is: Chelsea Cox of Upham House.

AUT Scholarships

AUT School Leaver Scholarship – Significant Student

These Scholarships are awarded to academically able students demonstrating leadership through achievement at a high level in school, sporting, cultural pursuits or community involvement.   The scholarships pays $6,500 toward accommodation or an allowance for one year to support full-time study at AUT.

The recipients for 2020 are:  Mia Bolton of Kupe House and Maddi Hohneck of Snell House.

Victoria University of Wellington Scholarships

Tangiwai School Leaver Scholarship - for excellence

Victoria Tangiwai Scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit.  Scholarships are valued at $5,000 for the first year of study which can be put towards accommodation costs at a University Hall of Residence, or as a stipend to contribute towards first year living costs.

The recipients are: Penny Bodman of Mansfield House and Vivian Chan of Te Kanawa House.

Food Tech Solutions Scholarship

The Food Tech Solutions Scholarship is worth $1500 and is awarded to a Macleans College student who is planning to go to University in New Zealand to study a course related to the Food Industry, such as Bio Engineering, Food Technology, Chemistry or Food Science.

The recipient is Caitlin Harley of Upham House.

Otago University Performance Entrance Scholarship

Established to encourage excellence in areas of performance including sport, culture, music and the arts. These scholarships are available to academically-able students with demonstrated high-level ability in their chosen area of performance.   These scholarships are valued at $16,000 for the first three years of study.

The recipient is Ruby Shi of Batten House.

Otago University Vice Chancellors Scholarship

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship was established by the University of Otago in 2015 to celebrate the excellence of students enrolling at the University of Otago. The selection of the recipients are at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor.

The recipient is: Angela Yee of Te Kanawa House.

Auckland University Scholarships

The University of Auckland Top Achiever Scholarships

These are prestigious awards. They are awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional levels of academic excellence, all round ability, and leadership. This scholarship is worth up to $20,000.

The recipients for 2020 are: Rachael Ouyang and Angela Yang of Te Kanawa House and Yunge Yu of Hillary House.

Donated Awards and School Cups

The James Bradshaw Hannah Award

This award recognises a student who show selfless service to others and includes a monetary scholarship of $1000.

The recipient is Selena Guo of Batten House.

The Ann Schaeffer Memorial Award

For excellence in service to others.  This award recognises a student who has given sustained service to a charitable activity in the school and demonstrated outstanding service in terms of hours given or money raised.

The recipient is Daniela Romero Mittelstaedt of Snell House.
