Half Moon Bay Rotary Technology Scholarships

These scholarships are intended to encourage students to enter a trade or technology and to recognise the value of apprenticeships and cadetships.

The recipient is: Arman Spencer of Upham House.

Miriam Elizabeth Gilbert Award

This prize is awarded in memory of Miriam Gilbert, a student at Macleans College 2004-2007.

The award of $750 is awarded to a Year 13 creative arts student, particularly focussing on media studies or graphic design who;

  •  Displays creativity in their work
  • Who is highly individual

The recipient is: Alexandra Smith of Upham House.

Food Tech Solutions Scholarship

This $1500 payment is awarded to a student going to University to study a food-related degree at any University e.g. Food Technology, Chemistry, Food Science or Nutrition.

The recipient is: Michelle Bosman of Te Kanawa House.

AUT Faculty Scholarship

AUT Faculty Scholarships are offered to recognise academic achievement and contribution to school and community for study in Engineering, Science or Te Ara Poutama.   These Scholarships are valued at up to $6,500.

For Engineering, the recipient is: Alasdair Potter of Snell House.

For Science, the recipient is: Michelle Bosman of Te Kanawa House.

Prime Ministers Vocational Excellence Award

This new award is intended to raise awareness of vocational education and celebrate the commitment and achievement of a vocational student in their chosen pathway.   This award comes with a monetary prize of $2,000.

The recipient is: Cole Stranaghan of Kupe House.

MIT 2020 Partnership Scholarship

The Manukau Institute of Technology Partnership is for a student to undertake full time study at Manukau Institute of Technology in 2020 for a course at Level 4 or above.    This Scholarship is worth $4000 towards fees for the first year of study.

The recipient is: Colanah Figgins of Upham House.

University of Canterbury Emerging Leaders Scholarship

For high academic achievement, leadership potential and involvement in community and sporting activities.   This Scholarship is valued at up to $6,000 for tuition or accommodation fees and includes acceptance into a UC leadership programme.

The recipient is: Amy Skidmore of Rutherford House.

Price Waterhouse Coopers Scholarship

The PwC Scholarship includes $7,000 to support university study, a mentoring relationship with a PwC staff member throughout their time at university and the opportunity to work in a summer internship during the penultimate years of their studies.

The recipient is: Amy Ding of Snell House.

Otago University Donna-Rose McKay Entrance Scholarship

Originally established in 2012 to honour the memory of Donna-Rose McKay, a leader in disability advocacy at the University from 1992 to 2013.  These scholarships, which are made possible by the gifting of funds by Alumni and friends of the University of Otago, are offered to students who have demonstrated academic ability despite challenging circumstances.  This Scholarship has a value of $6,000 for one year.

The recipient is: Bailee Ryan of Rutherford House.

Otago University Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships are selected based on a balance of academic achievement and leadership, which might be demonstrated either through school, sporting or cultural activities, and/or community involvement.   The recipient has achieved a high-credit Scholarship to the value of $8,000.

The recipient is: Renee Hosking of Kupe House.

Otago University Māori Entrance Scholarship

Established by the University of Otago in 2005 to celebrate academic excellence and cultural diversity, this scholarship is intended to encourage the progression of Māori into tertiary study and is valued at $10,000 for one year.

The recipient is: Maria Mayerhofler of Kupe House.

Otago University Performance Entrance Scholarship

Established to encourage excellence in areas of performance including sport, culture, music and the arts. These scholarships are available to academically-able students with demonstrated high-level ability in their chosen area of performance.   These scholarships are valued at $16,000 for the first three years of study.

The recipients are: Sonia Lu of Mansfield House and Jonathan Li of Snell House.

Otago University Academic Excellence Scholarship

The University of Otago Academic Excellence Scholarships are worth up to $35,000 over three years, and are primarily selected on the basis of outstanding previous academic performance, however leadership qualities and community involvement are also considered.

The recipients are: Thomas Ye of Upham House, Danielle Tweedale of Rutherford House and Jessica Gu of Upham House.

AUT School Leaver Scholarship – Academic Excellence

This Scholarship is awarded to students demonstrating high academic achievement.   The Scholarship pays $6,500 toward accommodation or an allowance for one year to support full-time study at AUT.

The recipient is: Jade Burnett of Kupe House.

AUT School Leaver Scholarship – Significant Student

This Scholarship is awarded to academically able students demonstrating leadership through achievement at a high level in school, sporting, cultural pursuits or community involvement.   The Scholarship pays $6,500 toward accommodation or an allowance for one year to support full-time study at AUT.

The recipient for 2019 is: Caleb Thompson of Rutherford House.

Waikato University - The Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship

This Scholarship has a value of $10,000 per year initially for one year and may be renewed each year.  Applicants will have demonstrated excellence in a sport or creative or performing art, high academic achievement and strong leadership qualities.    This Scholarship also provides personalised academic support and mentoring skills development, coaching and training, and personal and leadership development courses.

The recipient is: Hayatt Al Joborry of Mansfield House.

Victoria University of Wellington - Tangiwai Scholarship—for excellence

The Victoria Tangiwai Scholarship celebrates excellence—both academic and outside the classroom. These scholarships will be offered to the top school-leaver applicants enrolling in any of the University’s Bachelor degree programmes.

This Scholarship is valued at $5,000, which can be put towards accommodation costs at a Victoria University of Wellington hall of residence, or (for students not in a hall) as a contribution towards  first-year living costs.

The recipients for 2019 are: Henry Lockhart of Kupe House, Kate Middleton of Mansfield House and Alexandra Smith of Upham House.

Auckland University Scholarship

The University of Auckland Top Achiever Scholarships are prestigious awards.   They are awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional levels of academic excellence, all round ability, and leadership.  This scholarship is worth up to $20,000 in the first year.

The recipients for 2019 are: Grace Baylis of Upham House.

The James Bradshaw Hannah Award

This award recognises a student who shows selfless service to others and includes a monetary scholarship of $1000.

The recipient is Amy Ding of Snell House.

The Ann Schaeffer Memorial Award

For excellence in service to others.  This award recognises a student who has given sustained service to a charitable activity in the school and demonstrated outstanding service in terms of hours given or money raised.

The recipient is Kevin Hou of Upham House.
