Posted on August 19, 2019
Year 12 student Darsh Chaudhari (Batten House) had a very successful weekend participating in the 2019 New Zealand National Backgammon Championship held at the Auckland Bridge Club in Remuera on 6 - 7 July.
On the first day he competed against players of all strengths and achieved an overall score that enabled him to qualify for the knockout stage played between the top 16 players to determine the top placings.
Darsh achieved fifth place overall and gained the best Collegiate (under 26) placing nationally. This will allow him to represent New Zealand in international tournaments including the forthcoming International Collegiate Backgammon Championship in the USA.
