Success at home and abroad for Macleans College fencers

Macleans College fencers achieved impressive results at two championships over the recent school holidays.

Two fencers travelled to Sydney to represent Macleans College and New Zealand at the Australian Youth and Cadet Championships from 7-11 July. Craig Chong (Upham House) and Larry Lin (Batten) fenced in the Men’s U17 Foil and U15 Foil categories respectively and were placed 16th and 9th respectively. In the corresponding U17 and U15 Team Foil events, both players were awarded bronze; with Larry also captaining the U15 team.

Eddy Zheng (Snell) and Larry Lin represented Macleans College at the North Island Fencing Championships, held from 15-16 July. Unfortunately, the two teammates ended up fencing each other in the competition. Larry finished third to earn a bronze medal. Eddy secured sixth place in the overall competition.
