Success at Fencing North U17 & U15 fencing competition

The first fencing competition of the year for Macleans fencers started on Saturday morning with stunning success as the Macleans Sabreurs dominated the U17 Sabre podium.

Aaron Zhang 11DSOT, and Kevin Hou 11FISU were placed 3rd equal and Michael Purcell 13ROOK was placed 1st. Later that afternoon the Macleans foilists claimed 3 of the top 8 placings.

Alex McGuire-Barnes 11ASHT was 7th, Donovan Wu 11VIDR was 5th and Michael Purcell, backing up from fencing in the Sabre competition in the morning, was placed 3rd equal.

Sunday saw the turn of the U15 foilists to take 3 of the top 8 placings.

Henry Lockhart 11FRRK was placed 7th, Howard Wu 9GLEM was placed 5th and Donovan Wu was placed 3rd equal.

The event organisers were grateful to Alex McGuire-Barnes for giving up much of Sunday to help referee the U15 épée and foil competitions.
