The Macleans College values were exemplified by Premier hockey players at the recent local primary schools hockey field day.

Held by the Howick Pakuranga Primary Association (HPPA) the Macleans College students took on the role of mentors and umpires. They encouraged the younger players to give hockey a go, and taught them skills while controlling the game.

The assistance provided ensured that the primary school students had a fun day out and gave them the confidence to pursue the sport of hockey in the future. At the end of the event, primary school staff and parents expressed their appreciation to the students for volunteering their time and skills, and for being positive role models to the younger students.

Players involved were Eli Hohneck (Te Kanawa House), Marco Jansen Van Vuuren (Snell), Aimee Dawson (Rutherford), Brayden Larcombe (Te Kanawa), Xavier Madden (Rutherford), Shellby Rousseau (Te Kanawa), Ava McKay (Te Kanawa), Dakota Burns (Hillary), Picou Spankie (Te Kanawa), Kayla Thackwray (Hillary), Amy Thackwray (Hillary), Adrizaan Lewis (Snell) and Sunique Jansen Van Vuuren (Snell).
