A group of ten students from Bangkok, Thailand recently returned home after an enjoyable stay at Macleans College.
All from different schools in Bangkok, the students spent eight weeks in New Zealand - six of which were spent based at Macleans College.
While in Auckland the students undertook a tour of the Chelsea Sugar Factory, and had fun participating in a cooking class to make their own cookies. The students also had the opportunity to give ice skating a go, visit the Auckland Memorial War Museum, the Auckland Art Gallery, the Auckland Zoo, Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium, Rainbows End theme park and Auckland University of Technology and Massey University.
Over the Easter school holiday period the students were able to take two trips away. They spent three days exploring Rotorua, which is best known for its geothermal activity, and Taupō, which is located on the edge of New Zealand’s largest freshwater lake.
A highlight of their time in New Zealand was an overnight trip to the enchanting Hobbiton village movie set. A guided walking tour of Hobbiton allowed the students to view the sets which featured in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.
On their last day at Macleans College, the students attended a farewell lunch and were presented with a certificate and gift prepared by the International Students department.
