Macleans College students celebrated at Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast
Posted on September 04, 2024
Year 13 Macleans College students Nethra Tennakoon and Mika Ramsing (both Kupe House) were recently acknowledged for their exceptional leadership and service at the first Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast to be held in Auckland.
This event, hosted by the New Zealand Ethnic Women’s Trust in partnership with the Ministry of Education, was an opportunity to celebrate Tāmaki Makaurau’s growing diversity and champion the positive contributions of rangatahi in the community.
Many schools around Auckland were represented at the leaders breakfast, with one of the highlights being an inspiring keynote address by Sara Youssef, a management consultant and former AUT student president who immigrated to New Zealand from Egypt while in her teens.
Nethra and Mika are both fitting recipients of this recognition. Nethra is a Kupe House Captain and is involved in leading several extra-curricular groups including Kaitiaki Group and Interact Group. Mika is Kupe House Academic Captain and is involved in Sinfonietta and the United Nations Collective.
