Macleans College student makes international trampoline debut in Portugal

Year 10 Macleans College student Olivia Wilkinson (Te Kanawa House) recently travelled to Portugal to represent New Zealand at an international trampoline competition.

Olivia was the youngest member of a New Zealand team of 10 competing at Coimbra Gymfest.

Competing against gymnasts from around the world, Olivia performed exceptionally well in her international competition debut to place sixth on the double mini trampoline (DMT).

Earlier this year Olivia also represented New Zealand in the DMT division at the 2024 Australian Gymnastics Championships on the Gold Coast.

Olivia is a member of the Macleans College Gymsports and Cheerleading team. At this year’s Auckland Secondary Schools Gymsports championships Olivia placed second in the International Women’s Trampoline division, and third in the Overall Teams.

The double mini trampoline consists of two mini tramps joined in the middle. The first section of the apparatus is set at a slight angle and called the mount. From the mount, skills are performed onto the second section of the apparatus, called the spotter, before dismounting onto a landing mat.
