Posted on July 03, 2017
The Western Heights Kapa Haka group, Te Roopu Manaaki recently performed at a Macleans College assembly.
The group consisting of 18 boys and 24 girls, performed a number of songs that they will presenting at the Regional Kapa Haka competition that will be held during the July holidays. They travelled from Rotorua and were billeted overnight with the families of the Macleans College Kapa Haka group.
The students and staff from Western Heights were welcomed with a pōwhiri on arrival at Macleans College. Kaya Hauraki-Manukau (Kupe House) and Braxton Anderson (Mansfield) did the karanga and Mr D Sarah did the whaikōrero (speech) on behalf of the college.
A special thanks to all the families who hosted the visiting students.
