Special Olympics Football Event at Macleans
Posted on June 27, 2016
On 21 June the Special Olympics Red Ribbon Football event was held at Macleans College.
The event was contested by teams from approximately 10 schools through the East Auckland region which were made up of students from Years 7-13 with various physical and mental disabilities.
This was the first time Macleans College and Snell House has hosted this event and the new school turf provided excellent playing conditions.
The event was officiated by 20 student volunteers from Snell House who assisted with various duties including refereeing, scorekeeping, time-keeping and event announcements. Their enthusiastic work ensured everyone enjoyed a fantastic day.
The Special Olympics is a regular and important feature of Snell’s co-curricular calendar. The students have assisted in various sports previously, especially basketball.
