Silver medal at New Zealand Secondary Schools Judo Tournament

Year 10 student Jayden McEvoy (Batten House) represented Macleans College at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Judo Tournament, held in Hamilton on Saturday 16 September.
Competing in the U73kg division, Jayden finished in second place to earn a silver medal.
Jayden has been training in judo for seven years and is a member of the Howick and St Heliers Judo Club. His sensei (judo instructor) Lester Harris (Kupe House 1984 - 1987) is a former Macleans College student.
Judo is an unarmed modern Japanese martial art. The objective of judo is to cleanly throw, to pin, or to master the opponent.
