Senior Spanish students enjoy kōrero and kai

On 28 September, Year 12 and 13 Macleans College Spanish students enjoyed the opportunity to experience Mexican food culture in action.
Visiting Mexico restaurant in Ellerslie, they tried a range of Mexican cuisine such as quesadillas, tacos, and a range of salsas.
Food is an integral part of Spanish speaking culture with families and friends coming together to socialize around traditional dishes. In fact, the Spanish language has a word - sobremesa - meaning the time spent together chatting at the table after a meal.
Surrounded by Mexican art work, food, and music, students enjoyed their own sobremesa together.
Mrs Espinoza is very proud of the progress the Year 12 and 13 students have made in their Spanish language this year.
