Senior ESOL Immersion students hold a Market Day
Posted on September 13, 2019
On Tuesday 10 September the Senior ESOL Immersion students participated in the ESOL Market Day as part of their ESOL Business Studies Course.
The students had to establish, carry out and review a product-based business activity.
The focus of the assessed activity was on the practical aspect of planning, where the students had to write a formal business plan. Each group was required to include a mission statement with SMART objectives in addition to their marketing, operations and financial strategies and plans.
The groups were required to allocate specific roles to each person within the group, with the leader assuming the role of Managing Director and the other group members, Operations, Finance and Marketing Managers. All students had to actively participate in the process for their business activity to be a success.
There was a range of food available to tantalise customer taste buds, from traditional Chinese snacks, hot pot, dumplings, bubble tea and sushi to the very popular takeaway options of chicken, soft drinks, donuts and ice cream. Several groups sold out before the end of lunchtime.
Overall, the students felt that their business activities were successful as they had many students and staff come to support their ventures, in addition to the learning process of setting up and operating one’s own business.
