Macleans College Year 12 student Tamika Te Young (Batten House) was selected to have her work exhibited at the 2020 Ringa Toi students’ exhibition which was held at the Asteron Centre in Wellington from 23 September to 2 October.
Ringa Toi is an annual exhibition that highlights the artwork of secondary school students with a focus on Toi Māori.
Work displayed showcases a range of Māori art forms including raranga, kākahu (wearable art), tukutuku, tāniko, whakairo, kōwhaiwhai, mahi-tā (paint, print, spray), uku, whakapakoko (sculpture) and mahi-matihiko (digital).
To be accepted for the exhibition students need to be working at excellence level in NCEA. Tamika’s work is part of her NCEA Level 2 painting and these pieces represent the journey of learning Te Reo.
Further photos of the exhibition can be viewed on the NZQA Ringa Toi Student Exhibition Facebook page.
