Scholars' Assembly 2022

The annual Scholars’ Assembly was held at Macleans College on Wednesday 9 March.
The assembly recognised students who had achieved at the highest level in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Scholarship Examinations for 2021.
In the 2021 Scholarship examinations one student achieved a Premier Scholar Award, and four students achieved an Outstanding Scholar Award. There were 129 individual Scholarships gained, including 14 at Outstanding level and one student achieved Top in Subject.
Two students gained High Achievement in the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations.

For candidates placed in the top 20-40. The number of recipients for this award is restricted and achieving the minimum requirement will not guarantee an award. $5,000 each year for three years as long as candidates maintain a ‘B’ grade average in tertiary study.

This award is presented to Jessica-Hope Wei.
Jessica-Hope achieved an NZQA Outstanding Scholars Award in 2021. This Award is for candidates who placed in the top 20-40, in New Zealand. The minimum requirement to be considered for this award is three Scholarships with at least two at “Outstanding” level, or more than three Scholarships with at least one at “Outstanding”. The number of recipients for this award is restricted and achieving the minimum requirement will not guarantee an award.
Students who achieve this Award receive a payment of $5,000 each year for three years as long as candidates maintain a ‘B’ grade average in tertiary study.

Dux of Macleans College 2021
The Dux prize for 2021 is awarded to the Macleans student who achieved the highest grades in the annual NZQA Scholarship examinations.
The Dux of Macleans College receives the Allen McDonald Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Macleans College Parent Teacher Association in recognition of the contribution of Allen McDonald, the second Principal of Macleans College, particularly with regard to the school’s scholastic achievement.
The scholarship is worth $1,000.00. The Macleans College Dux of 2021 and recipient of the Allen McDonald Scholarship is awarded to Oliver Dai.
Oliver was awarded an NZQA Premier Scholarship in 2021. Premier Scholarships were awarded to the very top 12 candidates in New Zealand. The minimum requirement to be considered for this award is at least three Scholarships at “Outstanding” Level. The number of recipients for this award is restricted and achieving the minimum requirement will not guarantee an award.
Premier Scholars receive $10,000 each year for three years as long as they maintain at least a ‘B’ grade average in tertiary study.
Oliver achieved Outstanding Scholarship in Calculus, Chemistry and Physics, and Scholarship in Geography, History, Religious Studies and Statistics. He also achieved the following results.
