Posted on August 01, 2022
During the recent term 2 holidays, Madi Russell (Snell House) and her sailing teammate Kate Rasmussen (Botany Downs Secondary College) travelled to Weymouth in the United Kingdom to represent New Zealand in one of the largest centreboard regattas in the world.
The girls competed in the RS Feva World Championships, with 185 teams in the class over five days.
After day two of the regatta they qualified into the Gold fleet finals of 62 teams, leaving three days to battle it out for the top spots. There were some challenging wind conditions and fierce competition amongst the fleet. They came away winning the Female World Championship title, and placed 8th overall.
