Ronald McDonald House Dinner

Posted on May 19, 2017

On Thursday 4th May a group of 18 students and five teachers from Te Kanawa House provided an evening dinner and activities for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House as part of our service to the community.

It was a large event catering for 120 people and the students showed just how capable they were in completing everything that was required of them. They also gave up their time to pre-prepare food on the Wednesday after school and organise the activities. The children were entertained with a number of activities such as face painting, decorating cookies and playing games together.

Ronald McDonald House has volunteer groups providing dinner twice a week to give the families a much needed break as they cope with having a child with serious health issues.

All Te Kanawa House students and teachers were involved in this activity. Year 9 Form Classes donated food items and the whole house contributed by completing a coin trail which raised $369.70. This was very much appreciated.

A special thank you to the following students: Sarit Epshteyn, Jamie Smith, Hayley Picton, Michelle Bosman, Emily Banks, Pyper McCreanor-Rupe, Terina Parsons-Schmidt, Alicia Agius, Brendan Zhang-Liao, Kris Munar, Janice Ho, Gabriel Weon, Kaylee Goodyear, Ethan Bates, Grace Picton, Lovejit Singh, Skye Macleod and Holly Thirwall.

The huge success of this activity lay with the students who showed how kind and caring they are in thinking of others and how they can be supported. We were very proud of them all.
