The Macleans College Creative Arts, Design and Industries (CADI) department were excited to recently be the recipient of a DOBOT robotic arm.

Motion Design, an automation and software solution company, held a competition to win a DOBOT Magician Lite at the EMEX Trade Show. Dan Starkey from Vidak Limited won this competition and nominated Macleans College to be the recipient of the robot.

Motion Design visited Macleans College to present and demonstrate the custom machine and software capabilities.

A remarkable little robot, the Magician Lite, offers endless possibilities for learning and exploration. It can be fully programmed using a beginner-friendly Scratch 'drag and drop' programming interface, making it accessible to students of all levels. For more advanced users, there is also a Python-based structured text language available for programming.

The Magician Lite also includes a camera and microphone kit to provide students with the opportunity to explore the basics of image and voice recognition.

Macleans College is thrilled to have the Magician Lite robot available for use and teachers cannot wait to incorporate it into their classes. Its versatility and user-friendly programming options make it an ideal tool for teaching robotics, automation, programming and AI concepts. The CADI department looks forward to witnessing the students' creativity and innovation as they explore the endless possibilities offered by this incredible robot.

Macleans College would like to thank Motion Design for their generous gift and Vidak for their nomination.
