Report on Career Evening Tuesday 13th June 2017
Posted on June 26, 2017
A very successful Career Evening was held at Macleans College recently.
There were over 80 presenters from outside school, representing over 40 different organisations and educational institutes. This enabled the, over 1000, students and parents who attended to experience a great array of opportunities to explore their future directions.
Once again the traditionally popular sessions, featuring Engineering and Health Science were well attended. However, it was pleasing to see students were also willing to hear from some areas of shortage within NZ, namely a Food Technologist who came from Vitaco and representatives from futureintech, PWC and IT Professionals.
The variety of providers, covering courses from Certificate level through to Bachelor Degrees, industry professionals, representatives from the Defence Force, Police and trade organisations ensured that all students had the opportunity to find out more information about career areas they were already considering.
We also had students who found new career ideas, they went with an open mind and have been challenged to think about something different to explore and pursue.
