Reflection and Remembrance Performance by Macleans College Chorale
Posted on May 03, 2019
The Macleans College Chorale performed at Auckland War Memorial Museum as part of the ANZAC Day events.
The Chorale presented a 30 minute programme of “Reflection and Remembrance” for an audience of over 200 people in the World War One Sanctuary directly following the civil service.
They performed two settings of the text “We Will Remember Them” as well as works by two New Zealand composers. E Mihi Atu, a work commissioned by the choir this year, had its first public performance as part of this set. The piece is a complex work which includes a quartet of vocal soloists, ten choral parts and a chamber orchestra.
Composer Katherine Bell attended the performance and commended the choir for their hard work on this challenging piece.
The choir looks forward to performing E Mihi Atu again as part of their competition set this June at The Big Sing.
