A team of three Macleans College students claimed third place in the school category of the New Zealand Programming Contest (NZPC), held at the University of Auckland.

Fifty-six teams participated, with seven teams representing Macleans College. The team of Raymond Zhang (Te Kanawa House), Arshia Lotfi (Hillary) and Jason Li (Snell) gained a total of 223 points to finish in third place behind Mount Albert Grammar School in second and Burnside High School in first. Four other Macleans College teams achieved national rankings in the top ten.

Held annually, this five-hour contest is open to all New Zealand programmers. Teams battle it out to solve 16 challenging computer programming problems. The contest is held across five different categories; ranging from school students to professional programmers. Contestants across all categories received the same set of problems.
