Catherin Chen 13VYB has been selected by PricewaterhouseCoopers as a 2016 Accelerate winner, which is part of their scholarship programme.
PricewaterhouseCoopers is widely known as the world's most prestigious accounting firm. Investing over $3 million into learning and development programmes, the PwC scholarship is a rare opportunity offered to high school students in order to develop their skills, knowledge and relationships to kick start their careers.
The online application involved a four thousand word essay outlining the applicant’s motivation, key achievements and career aspirations. In order to choose 60 interviewees from a pool of 300 applications, candidates needed to exemplify excellent grades, leadership ability, community work and an overall positive attitude. The formal interview process involved a one on one meeting with a PWC partner and a recruitment officer.
The opportunity provides Catherin with a PwC staff mentor, summer internship, and invitations to functions and social events. The calibre of the recipients was exceptional.
