Premier Junior Debating

The Premier Junior Debating Team comprising of Grace Baylis (Upham House), Isabel Li (Upham), Jessica Gu (Upham) and Darsh Chaudhari (Batten) reached the quarter finals of the Auckland Schools Debating Competition recently but were narrowly beaten by Lynfield College.

The event was held at Diocesan School for Girls. The motion was “This house would support minority actors refusing stereotypical, negative roles”. Lynfield College were affirming and Macleans College negating. It was a tough debate from the outset. The judging panel was split and our team lost by two points.

It was also announced that Grace Baylis was ranked in the top ten speakers for the Premier Junior grade this year.
